Russian Government Agencies Launch VPN Procurement Tenders
State enterprises, banks, and law enforcement initiate tenders for VPN channels to secure internet communications.
The following organizations are currently involved:
- Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya),
- PAO "RusHydro"
- Pension Fund of the Russian Federation,
- Russian Agricultural Bank.
Rosselkhozbank will spend approximately 9 million rubles to develop its own VPN channel network. Additionally, police departments are interested in obtaining such channels, and according to data from the Rostov region, around 35 million rubles will be allocated. Russia's northern capital has also joined the trend, with the Saint Petersburg Metro already launching VPN channels at their sanatorium facility. The deal cost 245 thousand rubles, enabling secure data transmission throughout the metro system and convenient internet access for vacationing visitors.
GUP "TEK SPb" also conducted a tender for 950 thousand rubles, and now their VPN channels will protect communications from hacking and safeguard data.
It's worth noting that in mid-autumn 2017, Russia enacted legislation prohibiting VPN services. If a service assists in bypassing access restrictions to the Telegram messenger or any other banned content, it will be blocked. However, these requirements do not apply to state-level operators or local government bodies.
How Does VPN Work?
Essentially, a VPN is a private network that operates virtually over your standard internet connection. First, you connect to a VPN server, then access the desired website or content. When using a VPN, others see the server's IP address instead of yours. This is possible through server configuration. Hackers on the internet cannot discover your personal data since they cannot determine your location or access confidential information.

Let's address whether VPN services slow down your connection. With free services, you'll definitely notice a reduction, making video streaming or music listening nearly impossible. However, with our service, ping changes minimally—you can even play your favorite online games without lag. If you need maximum speed and low ping, choose UDP connections. At the same time, you'll browse all sites with complete confidentiality.
You won't worry about someone tracking which sites you visit or where you make purchases, as your connection remains fully secure. Since VPN works on any operating system and even smartphones, you gain access to virtually any resource worldwide.
